Lemon Souffle Rooibos Tea
This is one of my favorites! I just read a brief article in Natural Health magazine about the scent of lemon lifting your spirits. I agree; I love to have this tea at night before bed -- no caffeine, naturally -- because it is so relaxing. The stress of the day just melts away. If you would like to try a cup, let me know at MRSkrisTEAna@yahoo.com. Speaking of bedtime, I am just about ready to turn in. Have a good one!

Mojito Black Tea
This morning after my daughter's swimming lesson, I made a pot of one of our seasonal teas, Mojito Black Tea. Delicious flavor! I used my pink ipot which is about 17 oz. I boiled my water, added three teaspoons of loose tea leaves and let steep for three minutes. I added a spoonful of honey out of habit but it was very flavorful without it, a nice mint taste. The ingredients listed are black tea, rooibos, coconut, pineappple, spearmint, lemon bits, rum flavor and natural flavourings. My first two cups I drank hot with some muffins but I steeped it again and poured it over ice. My husband and I are getting ready to go weed our front yard so I am looking forward to a cold glass of iced tea when we take a break.
#1250 Pink ipot, $32.95 The mesh strainer and the removable lid make this dishwasher safe. We also offer the ipot in three additional colors, coral#1252, red #1251, and plum #1253.
#2505 Mojito Black Tea, $10.95 for a tin which makes approximately 30-40 cups.
#2507 Seasonal Trio, which includes Mojito Black Tea, Indian Summer Black Tea and Apricot Vanilla Herb & Fruit Tea, is available until September 30th for $28.95. All these I will have on hand at my open house for a tasting later this month. Hope to see you then, KL

My husband brought home an Orange Scone from Panera for me so I thought I would enjoy our Orange Spice Black Tea this morning. I used our Tea To Go to heat up the water in the microwave, which makes it perfect for the office. You steep it in the same clear plastic pitcher so you can watch the leaves float around. Then you set it on your tea cup and the strainer holds back the leaves while it drains. I happen to be using my Peace, Love & Mickey Mouse cup from my days working at the Disney Store. (That's me with The Mouse when I helped open Lexington's store back in 1993.) Since this is a black tea, it does have caffeine in it BUT did you know that if you steep it for thirty seconds and toss that out, it gets rid of the caffeine? Just add water to steep again and your cuppa will be decaf. How great is that! You can find this on page 14 of our current catalog with a picture of the four tumblers. Click here for current catalog.
If you would like a sample of our Orange Spice Black Tea, just contact me. I don't think I can replicate Panera's orange scone, but all I need to do is find a good orange icing recipe and drizzle it over the Cranberry-Orange scone mix we offer, see my July 2nd post on this blog. My teammate is coming out with a tea cookbook; I'll have to ask her. Have Your Tea & Eat It Too debuts in September for $12.95. I can't wait to try some of her recipes! I'll blog about my experiments, like Julie did with Julia. TTFN,
Kristina

The 8 Treasures Green Tea
Let me start by saying this was not the cup of tea I planned to have this morning. But my daughter had other ideas. I had my quiet time this morning, we had been outside, then came back in. I started a load of laundry and sat down to check my email since we had been out of town this weekend. All this time, she was opening her cupcake maker that her grandparents bought her for her birthday. But she wasn't supposed to open the cake & frosting mixes until I could read the directions on how to use it. She did otherwise. I should have known but I thought she could wait. If it is hard for me at 39, I guess it is even more difficult for her to do at 5. So while my water was boiling we were having the talk, about disobeying and lying about it. I heard the timer but we were not finished talking. So it boiled and cooled a little -- which is just what you want for green tea. You don't steep it very long either, two or three minutes -- which is good since I really need to relax with a cup of tea to calm myself. So 8 Treasures it is! I was reading a tea magazine this weekend and it mentioned 7 Treasures tea -- wonder what the difference is? Our ingredients are: Sencha (organic),
gunpowder,
mini tuo tea,
chung mee,
pai mu tan,
lung ching,
snow buds,
pi lo chun (that's eight by the way, if you're counting),
pineapple bits,
strawberry bits,
sunflower blossoms,
and natural flavourings.
I feel like Goldilocks -- just right! By the way, if you want to see pictures of my sweet little angel, I will be posting those later today on my personal blog. My sister in law took pictures of the girls this weekend in matching outfits -- they could be sisters! Thanks for reading. I hope you will share your tea stories with me someday, k

Strawberry Rhubarb Rooibos Tea
After starting my day with Lemon Souffle (hey that rhymes!), I am craving our Strawberry Rhubarb tea. While my cup of tea steeps, let me explain. Yesterday, Julie, Peyton, Libby and I returned to Mischeala & Katie Grace's to swim. The day was cool so the adults sat and talked while the children swam. Late in the afternoon, they were hungry for snacks. Mischaela pulls out the Rhubarb Strawberry Fruit Spread from Tastefully Simple. I had forgotten all about this spread so I have already called my consultant, Brandy White and placed my order. It makes a great PB&J sandwich and I can't wait to try with some scones! So until that I arrives, I will just have to drink our Strawberry Rhubarb Rooibos tea. Do you know about rooibos teas? They are my favorites -- caffeine free, named after the red bush in South Africa where it is grown, and did you know it is not really a tea? But it looks like tea and tastes like tea! Another great thing about the rooibos teas is that they can steep as long as you want and they don't get bitter, like black teas do. I get busy doing things and forget about my tea steeping, just like with this blog! But no fear, the taste just gets better the longer it steeps. I hope you will try some soon. I believe we offer eleven rooibos teas. I have most of them at home right now and when my new shipment arrives, I will have the flavors I am missing. I would be glad to send you a sample. Just send me an email: MRSkrisTEAna@yahoo.com. Now I'm off to sit down with my cup of tea. Enjoy!
Can't Forget the Scones!
Yesterday, I told you about our new teas in our Fall Catalog but I failed to mention the new flavor of scones we are offering ... Cranberry-Orange.
Sounds perfect for the fall holidays, doesn't it? We also have Apple Spice, Cinnamon Chip, Chocolate Chip, Pumpkin Spice and Sugar Free Vanilla. They are so easy to make -- just add heavy whipping cream and mix.
I received an email saying my order has been shipped. Can't wait to open that box! We leave tomorrow for Nashville where my niece Macy will be baptized. I will be offline but will return with a post the week of July 6th. Happy Birthday, America!

New catalog -- new teas!
Our new catalog (July - December 2009) debuts today with ten new teas and three new seasonal (July - September) teas
Black Teas: Pumpkin Spice, Banana Blast, Cranberry Peach
Green Teas: Enchanted Berry, Heavenly Mango, Raspberry Ginger, Roasted Pistachio
White Teas: Fresh Cherries
Rooibos Teas: Eggnog, Lemon Souffle
Seasonal Teas: Indian Summer Black, Mojito Black and Apricot Vanilla Fruit & Herb
My new favorite is Lemon Souffle. I made a cup before bed the other night and had the best night's sleep I've had in the longest time! My goal is to try a new tea each day and post my review. I loved the idea behind Julie & Julia, where she tried to cook through Julia Child's Mastering the Art of French cooking. The movie comes out in August; can't wait to go with some friends to see it! Thanks for reading, Kristina
